  Under Pressure Drilling

Under pressure drilling is a precise process of drilling a hole in an on-stream piping system without leaking its contents or interrupting flow. The process itself is decades old and has been performed hundreds of thousands of times onshore and offshore and in nearly every type of pipeline material.

Pipelines are designed to move liquids, gases or other products in a continuous flow. Shutting down these systems or even small sections can become extremely costly and time consuming. When alterations or repairs are required in a live system UTS Ltd will handle your requirements from concept to completion.

UTS Ltd can either carry out this service using your under pressure tee or we can carry out the full service and provide the under pressure tee.

UTS Under Pressure Drilling Procedure
1. An Under pressure tee is permanently
secured to the line.
2. A permanent valve is installed on the fitting
and a pressure test carried out to ensure
leak tightness.
3. A UTS Ltd tapping machine is installed on
the fitting. The machine is advanced and
when the pilot drill penetrates, the tapping
machine fills with product and air is purged
from the housing. The drilling is completed
and the cut section of pipeline is retained.
4. The valve is closed and the tapping
machine is removed. The new connection
is ready to be piped up and put into
service.
